Construction is the main element of our business and something we have built our reputation on. At the end of the day, will the property you see in the glossy brochure be well built? It is all too easy to fall for an off-plan project based on the skills of a designer. But what is really important once you have chosen a project is will it be built to a strict set of standards? Eurobuilding Engineering Ltd goes beyond the basic building standards expected under Bulgarian regulation, instead choosing the stricter EU standards of construction.
Eurobuilding Engineering Ltd has adopted a proven construction technique that is practical in terms of the available materials, rate and ease of construction, climatic conditions (materials that have excellent insulation and thermal properties), durability (extremely stable) and flexible in terms of design limits.
There are typically 3 Modern Methods of construction: · Timber frame: for Eco and Energy efficient Homes · Steel frame: For contemporary construction · Concrete Frame: For practical and durable property
Although we can be commissioned to build any of these types of construction, a majority of our constructs consist of concrete frame (reinforced with steel) and ‘in-filled’ with light air-bricks. This modern construction method is also known as ‘tunnel form’ and is now one of the most commonly used forms of construction across Europe and now the UK.
Tunnel form is a fast-track method of construction that is well suited to repetitive cellular projects such as hotels, apartment blocks and student accommodation. Recognised as being a modern method of construction, tunnel form simplifies the whole construction process by enabling a smooth and fast operation that can result in frame costs being reduced by 15 per cent and provide frame programme time savings of 25 per cent.
During the tunnel form construction process, a structural tunnel is created by pouring concrete into steel formwork to make the floor and walls. Each 24 hours, the formwork is moved so that another tunnel can be formed. When a storey has been completed, the process is repeated on the next floor. A strong, monolithic structure is thus constructed that can reach 40 or more storeys in height. The use of high strength concrete ensures fast construction.
Tunnel form creates cells which are 2.4 to 6.6m wide. These can be easily subdivided to create smaller rooms. Where longer spans (up to 11m) are required, the tunnel form can be extended using a mid-span section. The walls can be designed as deep beams and supported at low level on fin columns to permit car parking.
This technique has enormous advantages, not least, the ability to produce more, better quality property in less time. This technique acts as the basic building frame for most apartment and office buildings here in Bulgaria (indeed in most of continental Europe). This basic frame can then be moulded to match the design criteria of designers and architects. This versatile construction method allows for many and varied designs to be realised, whilst maintaining a solid construction base.
